Symposium 100 years Manresa magazine

The prestigious magazine Manresa, dedicated to Ignatian spirituality, is celebrating one hundred years since its founding. To commemorate this milestone, from May 16 to 18, 2025, a symposium will be held at the Spirituality Center in Salamanca under the theme "100 Years of Grateful Memory", as part of the annual gatherings focused on the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life. This symposium will be a unique opportunity to reflect on the impact and contributions of Manresa magazine in promoting and deepening Ignatian spirituality over the past century.

Location and Dates
The event will take place from Friday, May 16, at 6:00 PM until Sunday, May 18, at 4:00 PM, at the San Ignacio Spirituality Center in Salamanca (Paseo de San Antonio, 40). Registration is open for both in-person and online participants, with the option to follow the lectures and activities remotely.

Program

Friday
The symposium will begin with the lecture "Contributions of MANRESA magazine to Ignatian Spirituality", delivered by José García de Castro, S.J., who will explore the rich history of the publication and its influence on the Ignatian spiritual tradition.

Saturday
Saturday’s session will feature three key presentations:
● Essential Elements of the Spiritual Exercises, given by Darío Mollá Llácer, S.J., where he will analyze the fundamental aspects that shape the Ignatian Exercises.
● What Kind of Person is Needed to Do the Spiritual Exercises?, by Josep María Rambla Blanch, S.J., who will discuss the necessary dispositions and essential characteristics of those undertaking this spiritual experience.
● In the evening, participants will enjoy a prayer-concert, an activity designed to integrate music and prayer in a shared space of spirituality.

Sunday
The final day will focus on Ignatian Discernment and Spiritual Conversation, presented by Juan Antonio Guerrero, S.J. There will also be roundtable discussions and experience-sharing sessions on accompanying the Spiritual Exercises, fostering a dynamic and profound exchange among participants.
