The Ignatian Way

From Loyola to the city of Manresa

At the initiative and drive of the Society of Jesus, a small group of lay people and Jesuits have set about recreating the path that the knight Ignatius of Loyola traveled in 1522 from Loyola to the city of Manresa. This itinerary offers the men and women of the XXI century the opportunity to live a pilgrimage experience, following the spiritual process that Ignatius did. The Way begins in the house where he was born in Azpeitia (Guipúzcoa) and ends up at the Cave of Saint Ignatius, in Manresa. You can visit the website by clicking here. aquí.

A spiritual experience

After his spiritual conversion in Loyola, Ignatius felt the ardent desire to follow Jesus Christ, as many others had done before, and he abandoned the life he had led until that moment as the son of a noble family.

We propose to live the experience of Ignacio, in reverse. You will come accross other pilgrims, because their path is also ours ... but in the opposite direction to the yellow arrows that point to Saint James and that you will find along your path. Like Ignatius of Loyola, we are looking for another horizon, another destiny. Maybe we want to get to Jerusalem, like him, why not? But before this, we encourage you make it to Manresa, to the Cave, and do -as Ignatius did-, a stop in your life, to discover how God teaches us to walk "as if he were our teacher," holding us by the hand

The Ignatian Way from Loyola to Manresa (course)

In 1522 Ignatius went on pilgrimage from Loyola to Montserrat and Manresa. At present, there are many people who also do the "Ignatian Way". You can see the details on this proposal on the website of the Ignatian Way: in addition to the geographical route and its resources, it offers clues to make it an "inner road" in the school of Ignatian spirituality.
