International Symposium on the Spiritual Exercises in the Ignatian Year.

500 years after the experience that led St. Ignatius of Loyola to begin writing the Spiritual Exercises in Manresa, the International Spirituality Centre of La Cova wants to take the pulse of this little book in order to rediscover how it continues to lead to God those who put it into practice. Under the title "Mystagogies of the Spiritual Exercises 500 years later", the Symposium wishes to consider and share how the Exercises continue to be valid from different human and spiritual points of reference in the contemporary world.
The Symposium will take place in Manresa (Spain) from 12 to 18 June 2022. It is designed so that the presentations and communications will be complemented by the reflection and exchange of the participants in dialogue groups. We will try to ensure that the very way of proceeding of the meeting is to "feel and taste things inwardly" (Sp Ex 2). To this end, the symposium will bring together people with significant experience in giving the Exercises in different contexts and places in the world. The common languages will be English and Spanish. Specific areas of focus will be: the significance of the text, experiences of the Exercises at the margins of society, the mutual enrichment with other cosmologies and spiritualities and the Spiritual Exercises given into new languages. We will also include a contemplative visit to the places where Ignatian spirituality was born in Manresa and Montserrat. A whole world to discover and share. Once the Symposium is over, the Spirituality Centre of La Cova offers Spiritual Exercises according to the modalities worked on at the Symposium: Exercises from the text, Exercises for the social margins, Exercises of Contemplation and Exercises from ecology.
